THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY DIALOGUE ON AFRICA-U.S. CITIES’ RELATIONS: PARTNERS IN CITY-TO-CITY INTERNATIONALIZATION, PRESENT AND FUTURE

We invite 300-word conference paper abstracts from academics, political leaders, business professionals, funding agencies, and practitioners facilitating relations between African and U.S. cities. The conference is part of the Sister Cities International Summit that will be held in Cape Town, South Africa. The Summit will include a panel on Africa-U.S. city-based university partnerships on February 23, 2023, in Cape Town.

We are interested in paper abstracts related to multiple and diverse Africa-U.S. city relations, engagements, and encounters. Interested scholars and practitioners may or may not be affiliated with Sister Cities International (SCI), a key partner in the conference, whose mission focuses on relationships based on cultural, educational, trade exchanges, and economic development. Dedicated to promoting prosperity and peace through person-to-person “citizen diplomacy,” and starting at the local level, SCI seeks to tackle the world’s most pressing issues, including the sustainable development goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030.
